Our learning packages can form part of the Keystage 2 Curriculum, or can be tailored to individual needs. |
Children & students with learning difficulties, or those with behavoural problems, can learn through acquiring gardening & land skills. Set in a quarter of an acre of land. The Butterfly Garden boasts a vegetable plot, raised beds (for easy cultivation), a polythene tunnel and an area of lawn enclosed by flower and shrub borders. A large pond and wildlife area compliment the space. The garden is serviced by a network of wide tarmac paths. A barbeque and patio, a wild bird feeding station together with a domestic chicken pen add further diversity to the provision.
To offer greater flexibility the garden boasts two classroom spaces.
One is a traditional thirty seater classroom and is equipped to
offer a teaching space in rough weather (and it is hoped will eventually
support art, craft and drama as well as gardening). The other is
in the form of an open highly shaded pergola and will guarantee
generous and safe working accommodation through hot weather. 150
square metres of commercial greenhouse have also been adopted for
plant raising in which we teach gardening skills.
